Spiced Dill & Potato Cakes

Aloo Sua Tikki (सुआ आलू की टिक्की)

Lockdown Recipe! Dill & Cumin Potato Cakes 💁🏻‍♀️ One can never go wrong with an आलू टिक्की – Spiced Potato Cakes with Dill – सुआ, the best combination there could be. My recipe has lots of dill along with cumin seeds, ginger and a green chili hit! And it is incomplete without a killer हरी चटनी – Indian Coriander Sauce, so head over for that recipe!

Ingredients (Serves 2)–

1/2 cup chopped dill 
3 medium potatoes 
1/2 tsp cumin 
1/2 tsp grated ginger 
1/2 green chili deseeded and finely chopped
1 slice of white bread 
Oil for cooking 


1. Boil the potatoes in salted water 
2. Drain and cool 
3. Mash the potatoes with skin 
4. Tear in the bread into small pieces (this absorbs the moisture and keeps the cakes in shape) 
5. Put the chopped dill, cumin, ginger, chili and taste the potato mix before adding more salt (remember we boiled the potatoes with salt) 
6. Mix all well together 
7. Roll into golf size balls and flatten to make a cake 
8. If your mixture is too loose, it needs 10 mins in the oven to dry it 
9. Place a flat pan on medium heat. Add  2 spoons of oil, and cook until golden on both sides
