Paturi Fish – Banana Leaf Fish Parcels in Mustard Paste

Ingredients

  • 4 fish fillets cut to 4*2 inch pices

  • 2 tablespoons Mustard seeds

  • 1 tablespoon Poppy seeds

  • 1/4 cup Fresh coconut , grated, plus more to garnish

  • 7 Green Chillies , slit

  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)

  • Salt , to taste

  • 1 Banana leaf , cut into  10*8 rectangles

  • 2 teaspoons Mustard oil

  • Regular Cooking Oil

  • Lemon Wedges Kitchen safe tying thread

Directions

  1. In a grinder, add mustard seeds, poppy seeds, green chili, salt, coconut, turmeric and a little water to make into a paste

  2. Remove and add Mustard Oil 

  3. Apply the paste to the fish liberally on all sides 

  4. Cover in a banana leaf and tie with a string 

  5. Heat pan, pour a little oil and cook the fish parcels on both sides for 5 – 7 mins on medium flame

  6. 6. Serve with Lemon Wedges and a green chili
